Job summary

North Kansas City Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional Tier 3 – Special Education to support teachers and students in the classroom. The role involves assisting with instructional activities, supervising students, and helping implement Individualized Education Plans under the supervision of a Special Education teacher.

The position requires meeting Missouri paraprofessional qualifications, with priority given to those who possess 36 hours of college credit and/or a Missouri teaching

Qualifications

• Requires 36 college hours from an accredited college or university.
• Missouri Paraprofessional test or 20-hour online substitute training is required (Missouri).
• Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes to perform essential functions.
• Alternative qualifications may be considered by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Becomes CPR certified and First Aid Training.
• Trains in Medication Administration including EPI PEN.
• Assists Students with toileting and diapering.
• Assists Students with transferring and/or lifting.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medical assessment education and when to call the nurse.
• Assists Students in self-monitoring and de-escalation strategies.
• Maintains up-to-date data on student goals and progress.
• Assists with supervision during drills, assemblies, field trips and other activities.
