Job summary

North Kansas City Schools seeks a Paraprofessional Tier 3 – Special Education to support teachers and students in a classroom setting. The role includes assisting with instructional activities, helping with student needs, and supporting the overall smooth operation of the school environment.

Candidates should have at least 36 college hours (60 preferred) and may pursue required Missouri paraprofessional testing or substitute training.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 36 college hours from an accredited college or university is required.
• 60 college hours is preferred.
• Possession of knowledge, skills, abilities and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions.
• Alternatives to qualifications may be acceptable as determined by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Becomes CPR certified and First Aid Training.
• Trains in Medication Administration including administration of EPI PEN.
• Assists Students with toileting and diapering.
• Assists Students with transferring and/or lifting of Student(s).
• Demonstrates a basic understanding of Chronic Health Conditions.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medical assessment education (knows when to call the nurse).
• Demonstrates knowledge of Diabetic Management Training
• Demonstrates knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment and follows all safety protocols.
• Maintains up-to-date data on student goals and progress.
• Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assists with supervision of students during drills and field trips.
• Reads to students, listens to students read and participates in oral communication with students.
