Job summary

Vallivue School District seeks a dedicated paraeducator to assist in meeting each child’s IEP goals through one-on-one and small-group instruction, under the guidance of certified staff. You’ll support students with diverse abilities in an inclusive classroom setting and help reinforce lessons and instructional activities.

Responsibilities include monitoring student progress, providing feedback to the team, and supporting the delivery of an effective instructional program in alignment with IEP

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework or an Associate's Degree in education or related field preferred
• Previous aide or teaching experience preferred
• Knowledge of child growth and the diverse needs of children with disabilities
• Knowledge of appropriate special education classroom practices
• Ability to instruct students one-on-one and in small groups under direction
• Strong background in teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities
• Demonstrated knowledge of subject matter and effective teaching methods
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Maintain confidentiality

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher and/or special education teacher in achieving IEP goals
• Provide tutorial help to students following lessons
• Reinforce material and skills using various methods as directed by certified staff
• Provide feedback on student performance to team members
• Observe and record students' time on task
• Assist with learning materials and assignments
• Deliver instructional program for individuals or small groups
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work
• Assist with supervision during drills, assemblies, field trips
• Administer informal assessments as directed by a certified teacher
• Encourage students to meet their highest potential
