Job summary

Vinita Independent School District 65 seeks a para-professional to support students with special needs within the special education program. You will work under the supervision of the special education teacher and related service providers to implement activities aligned with individual education plans.

Daily duties include assisting with health-related activities, facilitating mainstreaming opportunities, and helping students transition between classrooms and activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability and desire to work with children with special challenges.
• Completion of para-professional training conducted by the State Department of Education.
• Maintain paraprofessional status with at least six hours of in-service training per year.
• CPR and First Aid training current.
• Record of good attendance on the job.
• Clear criminal history record.

Responsibilities

• Implement activities to support the objectives of the IEP under supervision.
• Facilitate mainstreaming activities.
• Perform needed hygiene/health related activities to ensure health and safety.
• Assist with transportation to ensure safe entry/exit and transport to community activities.
