Job summary

Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools is seeking a Medium Term Substitute Special Education Paraprofessional at Glendale Elementary. The role supports students and staff, assists with instruction, monitors safety, and helps implement IEP accommodations in a center-based setting.

The position reports to the Building Principal and Assistant Director of Special Education; requires a high school diploma or GED, with options for higher education, and state exams where applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or higher or 60 college credits completed.
• ParaEducator/ParaPro exam completed or to be passed within 30 days of hire.
• Experience supporting students with disabilities preferred.
• Confidentiality and FERPA compliance required.

Responsibilities

• Support and monitor students in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms and transitions.
• Observe and document student progress; maintain data logs and materials.
• Assist with IEP accommodations and behavior plans as directed.
• Provide personal care assistance as needed, ensuring safety and dignity.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to promote a safe, inclusive environment.
