The role supports elementary students with developmental disabilities in instructional and non-instructional settings, reinforcing learning and social/emotional strategies. Requires 48 credits/AS degree or ParaPro, with starting date as soon as possible; pay ranges from $16 to $24 per hour.

Qualifications

• Two years of College course work (48 credits) /AS Degree required or passing score (464) on the Para Pro Assessment.
• Ability to work effectively with students with special needs, specifically students with developmental/social/emotional/behavioral needs.
• Good communications and interpersonal skills.
• Preference will be given to people who are willing to attend training in crisis intervention/restraint and other topics relative to Special Education.

Responsibilities

• Works with elementary students with developmental disabilities and supports in instructional and non-instructional settings.
• Reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by the classroom teacher.
• Reinforce learning of social/emotional strategies introduced by the classroom teacher and school adjustment counselor and/or school psychologist and other related service providers, i.e. Speech & Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, etc.
• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about the student as is expected of a fully licensed teacher.
• Perform related duties as directed by the building principal.
