Job summary

Somerset Berkley and Somerset Public Schools is seeking a 1:1 Special Education Paraprofessional for a Distance Learning Center in Somerset, MA. Starting immediately, the role is full-time to support an individual student with special needs.

The candidate will assist the special education teacher, reinforce learned materials, and maintain confidentiality. A ParaPro or equivalent credential is required or 48 undergraduate credit hours, with preference for SPED experience.

Qualifications

• AS Degree or 48 undergraduate credits or ParaPro (or passing state assessment) for paraprofessionals.
• Background in Special Education preferred or willingness to participate in training.
• Experience working with students with emotional and learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Works with an elementary student with special needs and supports her/him in instructional and non-instructional settings, as directed by the special education teacher.
• Reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
• Communicate with general education teachers any special information they need to know.
• Maintain confidentiality of information about the student as expected of a licensed teacher.
• Perform related duties as directed by the building principal and/or the Director of Special Education.
