Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent advanced training in instruction of reading, writing, math or school readiness.
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required within 3 months after hire.
• National crisis training prevention required within 3 months of hire.
• Medication administration class required within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and/or small group instructional strategies under indirect supervision of licensed staff to students with intensive social emotional needs in a separate school environment.
• Generalize knowledge and training for all students; make independent decisions within appropriate parameters; implement team designed behavior support plans and health care action plans.
• Foster independence by teaching functional life skills; monitor and support students during activities; prepare and modify instructional materials; collect data for IEP goals and behavior plans; monitor progress and maintain confidentiality.
