Job summary

New Story Schools in Gettysburg, PA is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students aged 5–21 with autism and related challenges, collaborating with teachers to meet academic, behavioral, and daily living goals.

You will help implement IEPs under guidance, assist with transitions and self-care, and collect progress data while contributing to a calm, structured classroom environment that fosters growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• At least three months of experience supporting individuals with learning or behavioral disabilities.
• Knowledge of behavior management and classroom support strategies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stay calm and consistent during challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Support students with academic, behavioral, and self-care goals.
• Implement IEPs and Positive Behavior Support Plans under teacher guidance.
• Assist students with transitions, activities, and personal care as needed.
• Collect and record behavioral and progress data.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
