Job summary

Omaha Public Schools Forest Station Elementary in Bellevue, Nebraska seeks a Paraprofessional for the Special Education Alternative Curriculum Program (ACP). Work August through May while students are in session. Position is full-time, non-exempt, 7.0 hours per day, with a 10-month schedule.

Responsibilities include supporting teachers, assisting with student needs, data collection, and classroom management. Requires a high school diploma or GED and ability to lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Ability to walk, stand, bend, twist, balance, stoop, climb steps and reach overhead.
• Training in health care related field preferred.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Follow written and oral directions to carry out educational programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist or directly carry out educational activities designed by teacher and support personnel (OT/PT/Speech).
• Assist students with toileting needs and diaper changes.
• Carry out self-care programs with students (feeding, brushing, grooming).
• Assist with unloading/loading students on van/bus.
• Maintain classroom/ restroom cleanliness and confidentiality of student information.
• Interact with students as directed by professional staff.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and professional staff as a team member.
• Carry out programs in school and non-school settings as directed.
