Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Maintain high level of confidentiality regarding student and staff information.
• Ability to walk, stand, bend, twist, balance, stoop, climb steps and reach overhead.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Willingness to participate in professional development and in-service trainings.
• Regular daily attendance is essential.
• Committed to helping all children learn - reinforce learning concepts for individuals or small groups.

Responsibilities

• Assist or directly carry out educational activities designed by teacher and support personnel; i.e., O.T., P.T., Speech Pathologist, etc.
• Assist students with toileting needs and diaper changing.
• Carry out self-care programs with students including feeding, brushing teeth and grooming.
• Assist with unloading and loading students on the van/bus.
• Maintain classroom and restroom cleanliness and upkeep.
• Collect and record data.
• Create teaching materials related to the curriculum.
• Carry out structured behavior programs as directed by professional staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Interact/communicate with students as directed by staff.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and professional staff affiliated with the program.
• Carry out programs in school and non-school settings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
