Wakonda Elementary in Omaha, NE, seeks a Paraprofessional for the Special Education ACP. This full-time, 10-month position runs August through May while students are in session.

You will assist teachers, help students with daily activities, transport them as needed, create teaching materials, collect data, and protect confidentiality. A high school diploma or GED is required, and you must lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Maintain high level of confidentiality regarding student and staff information.
• Ability to walk, stand, bend, twist, balance, stoop, climb steps and reach overhead.
• Training in health care related field preferred.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Follows written and oral directions to carry out educational programs of students.
• Committed to helping all children learn - assist students and reinforce learning concepts for individual or small groups.
• Willingness to participate in professional development and in-service trainings.
• Regular daily attendance is essential.
• Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and handle situations with tact and diplomacy.

Responsabilités

• Assist or directly carry out educational activities designed by teacher and support personnel.
• Assist students with toileting needs and diaper changing.
• Carry out self-care programs with students including feeding, tooth brushing and grooming.
• Assist with unloading and loading students on the van/bus.
• Maintain classroom atmosphere, cleanliness, and order.
• Collect and record data.
• Create teaching materials related to curriculum.
• Carry out structured behavior programs as directed by professional staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Interact with students as directed by professional staff.
• Collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals and staff.
