Job summary

Rochester Public Schools is seeking a Special Education ESP paraprofessional to support students with special education services at the school site. You will implement aspects of IEPs under certified staff direction, assist with instructional and behavioral supports, and help collect data to monitor progress.

Qualifications

• 60 college credits or a two-year degree required; official transcript(s) with application.
• Paraeducator assessments may be used in lieu of college credits; Minnesota passing scores are 65% and 70%.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with elementary age students.
• Computer skills preferred.
• Flexibility and ability to work as a cooperative team member.
• Regular, on-time attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Follow Behavior Intervention Plans and Emergency Healthcare Plans.
• Provide support to students with personal cares as needed.
• Observe and document students' academic and social behaviors.
• Collect data and communicate progress to teachers.
• Supervise students before, during and after school; assist at meals and on field trips.
• Build relationships and model appropriate language and social behavior.
