Job summary

North Thurston Public Schools seeks a Paraeducator for Mountain View Elementary in Lacey, WA. This 6.5-hour/day, 189-day position supports students with special needs under classroom supervision and follows district policies.

The role involves collaboration with teachers, health-related tasks, behavior support, and documentation of student progress. The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or equivalent, and may need additional certification (ParaPro or higher).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Associates degree or 72 quarter credits or ParaPro test.
• May be certified in first aid/CPR or trained in instructional methodologies.
• Experience working with culturally diverse families and communities.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in instruction, supervision, and education of students with special needs.
• Assist with daily tasks (feeding, dressing, toileting) and health-related duties as directed by the nurse.
• Provide independent living skills instruction and social skills guidance.
• Follow behavior management and safety procedures to support student learning.
• Document student progress and assist with clerical duties as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and communicate respectfully with students, families, and staff.
