Job summary

ER9 District seeks a Special Education Paraeducator to support students in Kindergarten through Grade 4 under the guidance of certified teachers and related service providers. The role emphasizes instructional support, behavioral and social-emotional development, and implementing IEP goals to foster independence.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Education or related field.
• Experience with students who have autism or developmental disabilities is desirable.
• Ability to implement teacher-directed instructional and behavior plans.
• Confidentiality and sound judgment required.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Ability to foster independence and positive relationships with students.

Responsibilities

• Support individual students and small groups aligned with IEP goals.
• Reinforce academic, communication, social, and behavior skills under staff direction.
• Assist students in accessing the general curriculum with accommodations.
• Implement behavior support plans and positive behavior strategies.
• Collect data to monitor progress toward IEP goals.
• Prepare instructional materials and adapt equipment as needed.
• Supervise classroom activities, transitions, and field trips.
• Support students with organization and daily routines.
• Assist with personal care needs as required.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, nurses, and administrators.
