Job summary

Independence School District is seeking a PARAEDUCATOR in the early childhood program. The stipend is $4.00 per hour. The role reports to appropriate Special Education staff and aims to help students meet learning and behavioral goals per the IEP or Title I plans.

The position emphasizes collaboration with teachers, administrators and parents, handling daily stressors and maintaining confidentiality of student records. Requires minimal qualifications and willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED with 60 college credits or ParaPro.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related area preferred.
• Experience with special needs students preferred.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and handle daily stressors.

Responsibilities

• Work with teachers to implement instructional and behavior plans.
• Assist individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Help teachers monitor progress and assess student learning.
• Adapt learning materials as directed by teachers.
• Provide escort and assistance to students as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
• Participate in required training.
