Job summary

Evergreen Forest Elementary in Olympia, WA is seeking a Paraeducator to support students with special needs within HSLS/HiSEL programs. This 6.5-hour/day position focuses on assisting teachers in instructional and behavioral strategies to promote student learning and safety.

As a valued member of North Thurston Public Schools, you will collaborate with staff to implement Individualized Education Plans, monitor student engagement, and provide essential supports in inclusive classroom settings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s Degree or 72 quarter credits OR the ETS Para Pro test.
• May be required to be certified in first aid, CPR, and/or defibrillators.
• Successful experience working with culturally diverse families and communities.
• Able to manage students with interruptions and changing priorities.
• Strong communication and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with assessment, curriculum implementation, student interactions, and safe behaviors.
• Provide health-related assistance as authorized by the school nurse, including basic medical support.
• Teach independent living skills and supportive daily routines.
• Support behavior management and safety throughout the day.
• Assist in implementing therapy plans and mobility/positioning efforts.
• Communicate respectfully with students, families, and staff.
