Job summary

Salish Middle School, part of North Thurston Public Schools, is hiring a Paraeducator for the 2026-27 school year under HSLS. The position provides instructional and support duties for students with special needs, working with teachers in classroom and 1:1 settings.

The role emphasizes collaboration, safety, and adherence to IDEA/504 policies, with a 3.25-hour day schedule and 189 days per year. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with additional paraeducator

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• An Associate’s Degree or 72 college credits OR ETS ParaPro test.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse families and students.
• Experience working with children in learning environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with instruction and student supervision.
• Support independent living and daily living skills for students.
• Follow safety and behavior management plans in class and on the playground.
• Document student progress and communicate with families and staff.
• Provide tutoring and instructional support in small groups or 1:1.
