Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a dedicated Education Assistant to support certificated staff in implementing IEP, BIP, and 504 plans within general and special education classrooms. You will prepare materials, monitor student progress, collect data, and assist with health-related tasks as needed.

The role emphasizes confidentiality, collaboration with teachers, and flexibility to adapt duties to school needs. Strong organizational skills and ability to work with diverse student populations are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• AA degree, 72 college credits, or pass a skills test.
• Post-high school training in child development desired.

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated staff with IEP/BIP/504 implementation in general and special education classrooms.
• Prepare materials and equipment for instructional activities.
• Record student data and monitor progress; report difficulties to teachers.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students, staff and district information.
• May assist with health-related tasks and adaptive/medical equipment as needed.
• Support reading, writing, math and behavior programs with individual or small groups.
• Provide tutoring and monitor students during activities and transitions.
