Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Paraeducator / Teacher Assistant in Special Education to support students with disabilities across settings. The role is full-time, 184 days, about 6.5 hours per day, with emphasis on behavior management, progress monitoring, and assisting with daily living skills.

Responsibilities include supporting instructional activities, maintaining documentation, and collaborating with teachers and staff.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Personal Care Assistant certification required within 30 days of start date.
Must have 60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits, or an associate degree, or pass ParaEducator/ParaPro exam.
Good communications, interpersonal and recordkeeping skills. Ability/desire to work with technology and computers.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and work in the building.

Responsibilities

Assists in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center base settings.
Managing behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom) and monitoring progress.
Managing physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students).
