Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must meet Alaska paraprofessional requirements by one of: 48 college credits, or ETS Paraprofessional score 459+, or WorkKeys, or ASD Master Teacher paraprofessional training.
• Basic literacy in reading, writing, and math.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and inspire confidence and cooperation among staff, parents, students, administrators, and the public.
• Ability to establish and maintain a professional relationship with staff, parents, students, administrators, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional services in reading, math, writing to students individually or in small groups under supervision.
• Prepare or modify instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
• Collect data in accordance with student IEP goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with colleagues and staff as a team member.
• Follow written and oral instructions and implement teacher-directed programming.
• Provide services and supports per IEP, including accommodations/modifications, behavioral support, and related duties.
• Support vocational programs and community involvement per student IEP.
• Provide study skills and organizational support in regular and special education classes.
• Provide primary support in classrooms and assist during lunch, breaks, or before/after school as needed.
