Job summary

The Anchorage School District is seeking a Paraprofessional Educator for Resource ECE to support special education services under a certified teacher's direction. You will assist in instruction across related settings and support students with disabilities, including duties tied to IEP goals.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, Alaska paraprofessional credential options, strong communication, and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (or in GED program)
• Meets Alaska paraprofessional requirements by one of: 48 college credits, or passing ETS Paraprofessional, or WorkKeys, or ASD Master Teacher training
• Basic skills in reading, writing, and math
• Excellent communication and customer service
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and build trusted relationships
• Ability to establish professional relationships with staff, parents, students, and the public
• Preschool-specific requirements: work with 3–5 year olds and disability-focused settings
• Driver's license and ASD vehicle insurance; willing to use personal vehicle for department business

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional services in reading, math, writing to individuals or small groups
• Prepare or modify instructional materials as directed
• Collect data aligned to IEP goals
• Collaborate with colleagues and staff
• Follow written and oral instructions and implement teacher-directed programs
• Deliver specialized education services and supports per IEP, including accommodations and behavior support
• Monitor students during lunch, breaks, recess as needed per IEP
• Support Life Skills, Structured Learning, preschool, and CARE team classrooms as required
