Job summary

Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) seeks a paraeducator to support a special education classroom at River Street School in Windsor, CT. This full-time position runs 211 days, with 182 regular school days plus 29 summer days, aligned with a 6-week summer program.

The paraeducator will implement Applied Behavior Analysis-based instructional support, assist with living skills, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including Behavior Analysts and therapists.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus two years of college credit or an Associate of Arts degree or passing required assessments.
• Must be at least 18 years old; prior experience with children with disabilities is desirable.
• Requires passing scores on ParaPro or Para Pathways assessments (Reading/Writing and Math).

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher with classroom preparations and reinforce instructional materials for individual student needs.
• Implement behavior support plans and maintain a safe, orderly classroom.
• Use mealtimes and transitions as teaching opportunities.
• Accompany students on community outings with supervision and instruction.
• Ensure on-task behavior and follow safety rules and policies.
