Job summary

CREC River Street School in Windsor, CT seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students across elementary, middle and high school levels. The role emphasizes collaboration, diagnostic assessments, IEP development, and delivering individualized instruction within a diverse learning environment.

The successful candidate will work with a team to implement district-approved curricula, document student progress, and maintain strong family and school partnerships to promote student

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Special Education principles, theories, testing and curriculum.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
• Knowledge of data information systems and data use in planning.
• Familiarity with applicable federal and state education laws.
• Excellent written and oral communication with staff, students and parents.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments and develop IEPs to address student needs.
• Participate in PPTs and develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Collaborate with general education staff to implement IEPs and behavior plans.
• Coordinate with district and external agencies as needed.
• Collect and maintain data to inform decisions and track student progress.
• Utilize technology and instructional platforms to support learning.
• Provide direct and/or consultative services in various settings.
• Engage families to support student learning and involvement.
