Job summary

Minnetonka Public Schools is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to support students with disabilities in the SAIL Transition Program, 6 hours daily, 184 days yearly, from 7:35 a.m. to 2:05 p.m.

Responsibilities include 1:1/small group instruction, assisting with self-care tasks, operating assistive technology, and contributing to IEP meetings. Certification in Personal Care Assistant Training is required; CPI experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must meet highly qualified status as defined by the MDE on day 1 of employment.
• Completion of Personal Care Assistant Training certification test as part of pre-employment.
• Experience supporting student instruction in classroom settings preferred.
• Knowledge of behavior modification strategies including restitution and resiliency.
• Ability to write concise observational data and maintain logs/behavior charts.

Responsibilities

• Support, modify, and monitor individualized instruction in academic, functional, and behavior programs for special education students, 1:1 or small groups.
• Assist with self-care tasks (feeding, dressing, toileting); perform basic medical procedures under an LSN, including tube feedings and catheterization.
• Operate special education equipment (wheelchairs, augmentative devices); ensure safe use.
• Apply student management techniques to prevent or stop self-destructive behaviors.
• Participate in IEP and other conferences; coordinate with staff and parents as requested.
• Record observational data, maintain logs and behavior charts, monitor attendance daily.
• Perform other duties as needed; participate in training on third-party reimbursement.
