Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Job Coach to support students with disabilities during school- and community-based work experiences in line with IEP transition plans.

The role involves direct supervision, job-specific instruction, and ongoing support to help students develop vocational and workplace readiness skills. This is a temporary, part-time position not exceeding 29 hours weekly through June 4, 2027.

Job description

The Special Education Job Coach provides additional adult assistance in supporting students with disabilities during school- and community-based work experiences as outlined in the transition plans of students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Job Coaches provide direct supervision, job-specific instruction, and ongoing support to help students develop vocational, employment, independent living, and workplace readiness skills. Responsibilities include assisting students with learning and maintaining job tasks, promoting appropriate workplace behaviors, facilitating communication between students and worksite supervisors, ensuring student safety, monitoring progress toward IEP transition goals, documenting student performance, and providing feedback to teachers and transition staff.
