Job summary

Davis Elementary School within Chesterfield County Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support students with IEPs under the supervision of a special education teacher. Responsibilities include assisting with classroom activities, preparing materials, and documenting progress.

The role involves one-on-one or small group support, assisting with bus duties and lunch/recess supervision as indicated by IEPs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of childhood growth and development, behavior management and clerical procedures.
• Ability to supervise children in the absence of the special education teacher.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist special education teachers with classroom duties including recording grades, preparing instructional materials and administering accommodations.
• Support students during instructional activities (one-on-one, small groups, whole group) and document progress.
• Assist students onto/off the bus and supervise during lunch/recess per IEP.
• Implement accommodations in a child’s IEP as directed by the teacher.
• Provide clerical support like typing, filing and ordering supplies.
