Job summary

Davis Elementary School in Chesterfield County is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support the General Education VPI Preschool Initiative for the 2026-2027 school year. The role assists the VPI teacher in implementing instructional and socialization activities, with responsibilities spanning centers, small-group instruction, meals, and behavior support.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and access to either Paraprofessional Assessment or college credits.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices.
• Understanding of VPI requirements and local regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with preschool children, parents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist preschool teacher with safe arrival and departure of children.
• Supervise children during center instruction and help develop materials.
• Implement activities for small groups: plan, do, review; motor and social skills.
• Prepare meals and supervise during meals with VPI children.
• Monitor behavior and enforce rules; assist with home visits and parent workshops.
