Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year to support students with IEPs in general and special education settings under the supervision of a special education teacher.

The role involves assisting with grades, preparing instructional materials, and providing one-on-one or small-group support during lessons, while also handling clerical tasks and basic bus safety duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, training, or experience sufficient to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
• ASD training or experience may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assists special education teachers with classroom duties including recording grades and preparing instructional materials.
• Supports students during instructional activities (one-on-one, small groups, whole group) as directed, and documents progress.
• Assists students onto/off the bus and supervises at lunch/recess per IEP.
• Serves as an aide on the bus as indicated in the IEP.
• Works with students under the direction of the special education teacher and related services providers.
• Participates in training and implements support for toileting, personal care, and basic healthcare needs per IEP.
• Implements accommodations in a child’s IEP as directed by the teacher.
• Provides clerical assistance – typing, filing, maintaining records, ordering supplies.
