Job summary

Mesa Public Schools in Mesa, AZ is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to assist under the direct supervision of certified teachers and specialists. You will monitor and instruct special education students, help with daily living activities and health care tasks, and relieve teachers of routine clerical duties.

The role requires supporting students to participate in activities across classrooms and on the playground.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60 college credits required at time of hire or pass the ParaPro Test.
• Previous experience and record of effectiveness in similar roles.

Responsibilities

• Deliver, under teacher’s direction, classroom work/homework and reinforce objectives.
• Assist in the development of instructional materials and maintenance of classroom.
• Assist in data collection on academic and behavior goals as instructed.
• Implement positive behavior intervention plans for students with challenging behaviors.
• Respond to problem behaviors according to the student’s plan and district policy.
• Perform other related duties to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit.
