Job summary

Mesa Public Schools is seeking a dedicated paraeducator to assist under direct supervision of certified teachers and specialists, helping monitor and instruct special education students under IEPs. You will support academic tasks, daily living activities, and health care activities while relieving teachers of routine clerical work.

Responsibilities include reinforcing objectives, assisting in data collection, implementing behavior plans, and ensuring a safe learning environment across classrooms

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60 college credit hours required at time of hire or pass the ParaPro Test.
• Previous experience and record of effectiveness in similar roles.

Responsibilities

• Deliver, under teacher’s direction, classroom work/homework and/or reinforce classroom objectives, tutoring and guided practice.
• Assist in developing instructional materials and maintaining classroom resources.
• Collect data on academic and behavior goals as instructed.
• Implement positive behavior intervention plans for students with challenging behaviors.
• Respond to problem behaviors according to the student’s plan and district policies.
• Assist with tasks as required by district procedures to support student needs.
• Maintain safe environment and assist with transitions across campus.
• Support students with disabilities to ensure functioning in a school setting.
