Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPI certification required; training provided through Wake County Public School System (WCPSS).
• Experience with or in support of students with special needs preferred.
• Confidentiality under FERPA and related laws must be maintained.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Apps.

Aufgaben

• Provides support and assists in coordinating instructional programs for special education students, including familiarity with student’s IEP.
• Assists teachers with strategies related to the implementation of students’ behavioral intervention plans.
• Aids teachers with planning and organizing, evaluating instructional activities, developing classroom procedures, and preparing materials.
• Demonstrates professional and technical skills to support student achievement and school program.
• Maintains a positive disposition and calm demeanor with students at all times.
• Provides in-class support promoting independence and self-determination.
• Assists teachers with assistive technology and AAC devices to meet student needs.
• Compiles, maintains, and files reports and other documents, maintaining confidentiality.
• Participates in district staff development and professional growth.
• Coordinates transitions between classes and assists with student health needs.
• May assist with personal hygiene, mobility, seizures, feeding, and adaptive equipment needs.
• Provides CPI skills and behavioral support.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Assigned as one-on-one instructional assistant for students with severe to profound needs.
• Attends specialized training per student IEP requirements.
