Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant-Special Education to support teachers in coordinating instructional programs for students with IEPs. The role includes aiding in planning, materials preparation, and implementing behavioral interventions to promote student success.

Responsibilities also involve assisting with assistive technology, maintaining confidentiality, and collaborating with staff, parents, and the community to ensure a safe, productive learning

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required for TITLE I schools; ESSA requirements may apply.
• Six semester hours of coursework in early childhood education or two years of early childhood work experience for TITLE I schools.
• Maintain CPI certification through Wake County Public School System as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to teachers in coordinating instructional programs for special education students and IEPs.
• Assist teachers with strategies for implementing behavioral intervention plans.
• Plan and organize instructional activities and prepare materials.
• Support student independence and safety in classroom settings.
• Assist with assistive technology and AAC devices in classrooms.
• Maintain confidentiality and accurate records.
