Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six documented semester hours of coursework in early childhood education, OR two years of work experience in an early childhood setting.
• Maintain CPI certification and renewals; CPI training provided by WCPSS.
• FERPA and related privacy compliance knowledge.
• Ability to work in a team and collaborate with staff.
• Experience with or willingness to use assistive technology and AAC devices.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Provides support and assistance to teachers in coordinating instructional programs for special education students and IEPs.
• Assists teachers with implementation of behavioral intervention plans.
• Aids planning, organization, and preparation of materials for lessons.
• Demonstrates professional and technical skills to support student achievement.
• Maintains a positive disposition and calm demeanor with students.
• Supports independence and self-determination for students in class activities.
• Coordinates transitions between classes and assists with health care needs as required.
• Performs other related duties and participates in professional development.
