Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant-Special Education to support teachers and implement IEPs in elementary, middle, or high school settings. Work at a school site on a Monday–Friday schedule, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed, and a 40-hour work week limit.

The role requires maintaining confidentiality under FERPA, assisting with low- and high-tech assistive devices, and coordinating classroom activities while ensuring student safety and progress

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• ESSA requirements may apply for Title I schools.
• Maintain confidentiality in line with FERPA.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with instructional programs for special education students.
• Assist with behavioral intervention plans and classroom routines.
• Prepare materials and manage classroom procedures.
• Promote student safety and independence and assist with health care needs as needed.
• Document reports confidentially and support staff development.
