Candidates should have the ISBE paraprofessional license (or 60 college credits) and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional certification requirement (ISBE) or 60 college credits
• CPR training is highly desirable and may be required upon employment
• Good oral and written communication skills, and ability to follow written and oral instructions

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction of students with disabilities under supervision of a teacher
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal care support as needed
• Assist with daily living skills, mobility aids, and classroom equipment
• Maintain records of behavior and academic work
• Supervise students during trips and assignments; participate in training sessions
