Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support instruction for students with disabilities. You will work under a Special Education teacher to reinforce learning, provide one-on-one tutoring, and assist with daily living skills and personal care as required.

The role involves recording student progress, assisting with materials, field trips, and coordinating with teachers to support IEP goals. CPR training is desirable and on-the-job training is available.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid ISBE paraprofessional license or complete 60 college credits.
• Optionally, pass Work Keys or Parapro to qualify.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and maintain basic reports.
• CPR training is highly desirable and may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in reinforcing instruction for students with disabilities per IEPs.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene support as needed.
• Assist in transporting and supervising students on field trips.
• Take notes and help maintain records of student behavior and progress.
• Prepare and use instructional materials and manage classroom activities.
