Job summary

Chicago Public Schools in Chicago is seeking a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support students with various disabilities under the supervision of a licensed teacher.

The role involves one-on-one tutoring, personal care, mobility assistance, use of specialized equipment, and assisting with daily living skills; opportunities include field trips and documentation aligned with IEP goals.

Qualifications

• Valid TASN paraprofessional license from ISBE or completion of paraprofessional exam.
• 60 semester hours of college credit or equivalent to apply for license.
• Knowledge of students with various disabilities and English language basics.

Responsibilities

• Assist in reinforcing instruction for students with disabilities under a licensed teacher.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene support as needed.
• Assist with mobility, positioning equipment, and use of assistive devices.
• Support daily living skills instruction and accompany students on field trips.
• Maintain records of student behavior and participate in CPR training if required.
