Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support teachers in elementary and high school settings. The role involves assisting students with various disabilities under teacher supervision, reinforcing instruction, and helping with daily living activities and behavioral monitoring.

The position requires a paraprofessional license or college credits, and CPR training is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid TASN paraprofessional license from ISBE or have completed 60 college credits.
• Paraprofessional exam (Work Keys or Parapro) may be required for eligibility.
• CPR training is highly desirable and may be required later.

Responsibilities

• Assist Special Education teachers in reinforcing learning for students with disabilities.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and assist with daily living skills as needed.
• Escort students to activities, monitor behavior, and help maintain records of student progress.
• Support feeding, hygiene, and transportation-related tasks as directed by the teacher.
