Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate required.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of general office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials, classroom displays, and instructional activities.
• Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional activities as assigned by the teacher.
• Assist in the implementation of each student’s Individual Education Program as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with the administration and scoring of student assignments and tests.
• Assist in monitoring and supervising students throughout the school day, including cafeteria, bus, or playground duty.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of supplies and materials.
• Assist the teacher in keeping records and preparing required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist the teacher in the use of instructional technology for students.
