Job summary

Central Bucks School District seeks a Special Education Assistant - Instructional at Barclay Elementary School for the 2026/2027 school year. This part-time position (29.9 hours per week or less) pays $20.84 per hour, with an additional $1.25 per hour when toileting support is required.

The assistant will support students under IEPs in both special education and regular education settings, working as part of a professional team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years college coursework or an Associate Degree preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required at time of hire.

• Training on crisis prevention techniques will be provided by CBSD.

DESCRIPTION

Perform a wide variety of duties in support of student(s) individualized education programs in both special education/learning support and regular education settings as directed and supervised by a professional staff member.

• If student toileting is required, additional $1.25 per hour will be added to base pay.

Must work as a team member and exercise good judgment, prioritize tasks and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Candidates must have patience and enjoy working with children. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Utilization of crisis prevention techniques/strategies (including possible restraint as a last resort) with students who require such in their IEP. Training will be provided via CBSD.

Minimum 2 years college course work or Associate Degree preferred. High School Diploma/Transcripts or GED equivalent required at time of hire (the minimum). Must work as a team member, exercise good judgment, prioritize tasks, effectively communicate with both students and adults and be a positive role model for students.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in a school setting for extended periods, including but not limited to sitting, standing, bending, reaching, walking, talking, hearing, climbing stairs, and lifting to 20 lbs.

• Some assignments may require lifting excess of 50 lbs. while assisting students with specific personal care needs, or restraint
