Job summary

Central Bucks School District is seeking a Special Education Assistant - Instructional for Groveland Elementary School. This part-time role provides support for students’ IEPs in both special and regular education settings under supervision by a professional staff member.

The position emphasizes teamwork, effective written and oral communication, and patience while assisting students. Training and a collaborative environment are provided, with hours from 9:30 AM to 2:24 PM for the 2026/2027

Qualifications

• Crisis prevention techniques familiarity; restraint may be used as a last resort per IEP.
• Minimum 2 years college coursework or Associate Degree preferred; HS Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work as a team and communicate effectively with students and staff.

Description

Perform a wide variety of duties in support of student(s) individualized education programs in both special Learning support and regular education settings as directed and supervised by a professional staff member.

• If student toileting is required, additional $1.25 per hour will be added to base pay.

Must work as a team member and exercise good judgment, prioritize tasks and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Candidates must have patience and enjoy working with children. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Utilization of crisis prevention techniques/strategies (including possible restraint as a last resort) with students who require such in their IEP. Training will be provided via CBSD.
• Minimum 2 years college course work or Associate Degree preferred. High School Diploma/Transcripts or GED equivalent required at time of hire (the minimum). Must work as a team member, exercise good judgment, prioritize tasks, effectively communicate with both students and adults and be a positive role model for students.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in a school setting for extended periods, including but not limited to sitting, standing, bending, reaching, walking, talking, hearing, climbing stairs, and lifting to 20 lbs.
• Some assignments may require lifting excess of 50 lbs. while assisting students with specific personal care needs, or restraint
