POSITION: Special Education Assistant - Instructional

Full-time/Benefits

LOCATION: Lenape Middle School

AVAILABLE: 2026/2027 School Year

HOURS: Full-time/10-month 7:15 AM - 2:30 PM

COMPENSATION: $20.84 p/hr

DESCRIPTION: Perform a wide variety of duties in support of student(s) individualized education programs in both special and regular education settings as directed and supervised by a professional staff member. Must work as a team member and exercise good judgment, prioritize tasks and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Candidates must have patience and enjoy working with children. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Utilization of crisis prevention techniques/strategies (including possible restraint as a last resort) with students who require such in their IEP. Training will be provided via CBSD.
• Minimum 2 years college coursework or Associate Degree preferred. High School Diploma/Transcripts or GED equivalent required at time of hire (the minimum). Must work as a team member, exercise good judgment, prioritize tasks, effectively communicate with both students and adults and be a positive role model for students.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in a school setting for extended periods, including but not limited to sitting, standing, bending, reaching, walking, talking, hearing, climbing stairs, and lifting to 20 lbs.
• Some assignments may require lifting excess of 50 lbs. while assisting students with specific personal care needs, or restraint.
