Job summary

The Eugene School District 4J in Eugene, Oregon seeks an instructional assistant for the 2026/27 school year. This part-time (.8125 FTE) role, 6.5 hours per day, Mon-Fri on the CL-192 schedule, supports educators in instruction and behavior management for students with developmental or learning disabilities.

Essential tasks include lesson prep, progress monitoring, testing support, record-keeping, and collaboration with teachers.

Qualifications

• HQ documentation required (transcripts or degree).
• Post-secondary study totaling 72 credit hours or 48 semester credits.
• Associates or higher degree for HQ status.
• Ability to demonstrate reading, writing and math instruction.
• Experience in instructional techniques and behavior management.
• Basic clerical skills and typing ability.

Responsibilities

• Confer with teacher and assist in lesson preparation; instruct students and administer tests.
• Monitor student progress and record grades and behaviors.
• Prepare materials and assist in after-class tutoring and counseling.
• Maintain filing systems, update bulletin boards and classroom displays.
• Supervise students and ensure a safe classroom environment.
• Orient substitute teachers to curriculum and materials.
• Coordinate parent-teacher conferences; assist with materials procurement.
