Job summary

Seattle Public Schools seeks a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support special needs students in regular or self-contained classrooms. You will assist in implementing instruction, monitor behavior, attend IEP meetings, and work with teachers to fulfill individual education programs.

Responsibilities include adapting activities, administering assignments, and maintaining records, while providing first aid and ensuring student safety across school environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Progress toward paraeducator qualifications as defined by PESB.
• Basic math, reading manuals, and following instructions.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities to provide participation for all special education students.
• Administer materials and assignments to assist teacher in evaluating progress.
• Provide first aid and medical assistance as required.
• Assist students with personal care needs as needed.
• Attend meetings and trainings to stay informed on job functions.
• Collaborate with teachers and parents to assess student progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Direct and implement behavioral plans for students with behavior disorders.
• Instruct students in activities to reinforce instructional objectives and remediation plans.
• Maintain instructional materials and student files/records.
