Job summary

Seattle Public Schools seeks a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support students with special needs in regular or self-contained classrooms. You will assist in implementing IEP goals, adapt activities, monitor behavior, and communicate with staff and families.

The role requires working under supervision, attending trainings, and collaborating with teachers to ensure safe, productive learning environments for diverse learners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Paraeducator eligibility under PESB guidelines or higher education credits.
• Experience with special needs students preferred.
• Ability to adapt instructional activities to student needs.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities to include all students.
• Assist in evaluating progress and organizing student needs.
• Provide first aid and basic medical assistance as required.
• Support students with personal care needs as needed.
• Attend meetings and communicate with teachers and parents.
• Implement behavioral plans and supervise students.
• Monitor safety in halls, restrooms, and common areas.
