Job summary

Mesa Public Schools in Chandler, AZ, is seeking a part-time paraeducator to assist under certified teachers and specialists with monitoring and instruction of students on IEPs. You will help students with academic tasks, daily living activities, and health care activities, and relieve teachers of routine clerical duties.

You will deliver guided practice, help develop instructional materials, collect progress data, and support behavior plans to maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or 60 college credit hours required at time of hire.
• ParaPro Test may be used in lieu of degree.
• Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Deliver, under teacher's direction, classroom work/homework and reinforce objectives.
• Assist in development of instructional materials and maintenance of the classroom.
• Assist in the collection of data on academic and behavior goals as instructed.
• Collaborate with certified personnel to implement positive behavior plans and crisis interventions.
• Transfer and/or lift non-ambulatory students to assist them in daily activities.
• Assist students with personal care needs to support daily living activities.
• Supervise students during transitions and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Perform general clerical tasks to support the teacher (copies, materials, billing).
• Attend meetings to share information and improve skills.
