Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a dedicated individual to support students with disabilities, assisting with IEP-related services to help them achieve their potential in an academic setting.

The role includes tutoring, assisting with daily activities, basic medical tasks under supervision, record-keeping, and collaboration with teachers and families. This is a 9-month, 35-hour-per-week position with stipends offered during recruitment and retention periods.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid AZ teaching certificate or 60 semester hours or Parapro Test required.
• CPR/AED/First Aid Certification required (online training not accepted).
• Fingerprint Clearance required.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides a safe and supportive environment so students with special needs may fully access their education.
• Accompanies and assists students throughout the school day as necessitated by the IEP.
• Provides academic tutoring/remediation, 1:1 or in small groups under supervision.
• Transcribes instructional materials into Braille as needed.
• Assists and trains students in self-care activities including feeding, hygiene, dressing, mobility.
• Performs medical tasks under supervision of licensed providers including basic medical procedures.
• Maintains records and Medicaid billings.
• Performs administrative and clerical duties as assigned.
• Assists with organizing activities and scheduling events.
• Assists with instruction of groups and monitoring behaviors per behavior plans.
• Assists with informal testing/monitoring of objectives.
• Performs classroom duties and maintains organization.
• May assist with IEP/paperwork and contact meetings with parents.
• Schedules and conducts meetings for IEP, CST, and MET.
• Assists with proctoring and grading when needed.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent
