Job summary

Sun Prairie Area School District is seeking a Special Education Assistant at Patrick Marsh Middle School. The role supports teachers in delivering instruction to students with disabilities, aids in IEP/504 implementation, and helps maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Starting wage is $21.85 per hour. Full-time, 7 hours daily (8:15am - 3:45pm), Monday through Friday during the school year. Benefits eligible with paid time off.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with technical training in special education or equivalent.
• DPI certification provided by employee.
• CPR, non-violent crisis intervention, and first aid certification.
• Must meet NCLB standards (education completed or demonstrated ability).
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe learning atmosphere to help students meet their abilities.
• Supports and tracks IEP/504 goals and collects related data.
• Promotes inclusive instruction in classrooms and community.
• Leads small groups and one-on-one instruction under teacher guidance.
• Assists with accommodations on assignments and tests.
• Provides supervision across educational environments.
• Accepts directives from the special education contact teacher and problem-solves independently.
• Prepares materials for substitutes and maintains notes.
• Provides basic first aid and maintains related logs; training in required topics.
• Assists with self-care for students, including feeding and toileting when needed.
• Performs health procedures after training as assigned.
