Job summary

Sun Prairie Area School District is seeking a Substitute - Support Staff/ Permanent SEA Substitute at Patrick Marsh Middle School to assist teachers in meeting the needs of students with disabilities in the educational environment. You will support IEP/504 goals, collect related data, and help maintain an inclusive classroom atmosphere.

The role involves supervising students, leading small groups, preparing substitute plans, and following district policies.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with technical training in special education, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities;
• DPI certification provided by employee
• CPR, non-violent crisis intervention, and first aid certification.
• Must meet the following NCLB standards for this position: (1) Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education, (2) obtained an associate's degree (or higher) or (3) be able to demonstrate through a formal assessment, the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers in meeting the comprehensive needs of students with disabilities in the educational environment.
• Maintains safe learning atmosphere and supports IEP/504 goals and data collection.
• Facilitates inclusion and promotes acceptance of differences.
• Leads small groups and one-on-one instruction under teacher guidance.
• Facilitates student accommodations on assignments and tests.
• Provides student supervision across educational environments.
• Prepares detailed notes and materials for substitutes.
• Provides basic first aid and maintains relevant logs and certifications.
• Performs health procedures as assigned after training.
• Follows District policies and procedures, including Technology Use Policy.

Education

High School graduate with tech training in special education
